Couponing: Grocery Shopping 3/9-15/12

Haven't done any grocery shopping in awhile because we've been full stocked but I had a little space in the fridge/freezer so I decided to check in on the deals and found some good ones on frozen foods; pizza at S&S and meat at Shaws.  We don't eat this type of food everyday and I wouldn't recommend it but it's nice to have on hand for days where there is no time to cook and want something fast and cheap that is better and cheaper than a drive thru!  Arnold bread is a household favorite and Duncan Hines cake mix and Dietz & Watson deli meat are my favorites, all at stock up prices, so it was a great week for grocery shopping!

As mentioned previously, the cat litter is on sale for $7.99 plus there is a mail in rebate for the full purchase price through the end of the year.

Stop & Shop

Shopping: Target 3/10/12

Some good deals at Target yesterday.  Not sure which ended yesterday as Target does deals that follow a weekly cycle, monthly cycle and random cycles.  The cat litter is on sale for $7.99 through March plus there is a mail in rebate for the full purchase price through the end of the year.  This absolutely made my year because it's the litter we use and the cost adds up fast.  I'll be doing a rebate for this to each of my family member's households in order to stock up on some free litter!  Luckily I have a fantastic family who have all OKed this!  We needed ketchup so I picked up the cheapest bottle they carried and I've been trying to switch over to Green Works since I bought the glass cleaner a few months back and loved it and there was a $.75 peelie on it!  This was my first time using a peelie ever so it was nerdily exciting for me.  A peelie is a coupon that is stuck on the product by the manufacturer for you to use when you purchase that product.  And to top it off, the cashier was too busy chatting away with her friend to realize she scanned it twice so I got the cleaner for just over a buck!  Great deal!  I also picked up a 12 pack of push pencils from the $1 section to add to my gift bin.  My gift bin something I started this year where I buy gifts when they are cheap or on sale and save them for birthdays and Christmas and any other surprise occassions so that I'm not spending full price trying to pick it up quick when the time comes.  It's been working out really well so far although my mom did get her 2012 Christmas gift two days ago because I knew she'd want it for her upcoming vacation lol.  All in all a very successful trip with some overages, some extra scanned coupons and some cheap and free favorites!

$8.01 for $28.51 worth of products (72% savings!)

Donation: DOVE 2/8/12

All my excess, after we and my family that's local (six households worth of people and random gifts to friends) go through it, goes to DOVE for their shelter and other various programs.  I was introduced to their organization when my school volunteered there and I like being to give back to the community I was raised in even though I don't live there anymore.  I'm in the process of looking for other local organization that would find these products useful.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

On February 8th, 2012, I brought my first batch of donated goods by.  All of these items were obtained from couponing and samples I received in the mail.  Click here to see the list of items donated, their value and my cost.  A few things I did pay for because I thought they would be good donation items but most were free!

Couponing: Drugs Stores 3/4-10/12

A little late posting this week's deals but you have Saturday to shop!  It was crazy at work and school so I got to my shopping late this week.  Not much going on this week sale wise but there is even more free toothpaste to add to my collection and some other goodies I know I'll use.  Cat food was .32 cents per can which fit into my stock up price so I picked them up.  You'll probably notice some candy scattered in the Wags photo that aren't on the spreadsheet.  I use them as fillers to use my register rewards (of which I have a LOT the last few weeks) but I don't add them since your situation will likely be different and you can choose your own fillers if necessary. I personally go for the Lindt truffles but some Easter favorites snuck in this week.  Let me know if you have any questions about Walgreens, their register rewards and filler items.  I'd be happy to explain in more depth.  Oh yeah, I started adding tax to my spreadsheet since people have mentioned it.  Only catch is that I have yet to figure out how the hell it's calculated (it never seems to tie to anything directly) so I'm just including the total from my receipts but no detail on what caused it (because I have no idea!).

Hey guys! So I've been getting really stressed about the blog and trying to figure out a way to keep it but not make myself crazy over it.  Well I figured it out!  SPREADSHEETS!  Instead of retyping all the details on each product, which takes so much more time than you'd think, I'm going to link to my spreadsheet with all the details!  I create this spreadsheet to do my shopping anyway so it's no added work for me and I suspect it will be SIGNIFICANTLY easier for you all to follow and utilize so it's best for everyone!  It'll also stop me from posting everything too late for you to use (like I am now - these sales have ended) because it won't take me as long to create the posts!  Plus I nerdily love spreadsheets like a normal person shouldn't... true story.  The only disadvantage to the spreadsheet method is I account for original prices at the sale value not the actual value.  This decreases my percentage savings since the value of the items are now based on the current sale price and not the full price. I hope you all like the new format, leave me some feedback in the comments!  Thanks!

Couponing: Walgreens 2/12-2/18

I'M BAAACK.  I took a mental hiatus from the blog while work was crazy busy and tax season and the new school semester started back up.  Now that work has slowed down and I've settled into tax season and school I think I'm ready to start posting again.  I probably won't do catchup posts but maybe I'll post the pictures later if I decide to :)  Today was a great day to start back as I picked up some great items at Walgreens and wanted to share.  I had $60 (!) in register rewards that were expiring in the next three days so I was on a mission to spend $60 without spending too much out of pocket.  I am happy to say I succeeded and stocked up on some good stuff!

$15.93 for $120.87 worth of items! (87% savings!)

- 2 Sundown Vitamin D3-1000 iu 100 ct: $5.99 on sale $4 - B1G1 - 2 $1/1 printable - $4 Wags MIR - 10% bonus = $2.40 PROFIT!
- Renew Life Love Your Heart 90ct: on sale $20 - $20 Wags MIR - 10% bonus rebate = $2 PROFIT!
- HeartBlu HH Veg 60ct: on sale $14 - $14 Wags MIR - 1% bonus rebate = $1.40 PROFIT!
- 1 Factor Nutrition Labs Ubiquincol Coq10 30 ct: on sale $10 - $10 Wags MIR - 10% bonus rebate = $1 PROFIT!
- 2* LySyl Cold Sore Relief .3oz: $5.99 on sale for $5 - $5 RR = FREE!
- 2 Get2BB Stylers: $5.99 on sale B1G1 - 2 $3/1 2/12 RP = FREE!
- Just or Men Hair Color: $5.99 - $5.99 MIR = FREE!
- 3 Mitchum Deoderant: $3.99 on sale $1.99 with in-ad coupon - $.75 1/8 S = $1.25 each (69% savings!)
- 2 Curel Therapy Hand & Cuticle Cream 3.5oz: $3.49 on clearance for $2.79 - B1G1 50% off $1.40 - 2 $1/1 2/5 S = $1.09 each (69% savings!)
- 2 Cottonelle 12ct bath tissue: $5 each - $1 Wags Feb coupon book - $1 1/15 S = $3 each (40% savings!)
- 3 2 Liter Coke: $1.99 on sale 3/$4 = $1.33 (33% savings!)

So it could've been hard to come up with items that left me with $60 checkout total in order to use my RR that were about to expire (this is your total after coupons so the items would have to give you a RR or MIR in order to use up my RR) and I lucked out like CRAZY with these freebie/for profit RR and Wags MIR items!  I seriously couldn't have had better timing and I couldn't have been happier.  As for the other products, those small purse size Mitchum's are on my mom's request list (I get a request list from my family members of things to look out for) and it was a great stock up price for those.  The Curel and Cottonelle were great RR filer items that we can always use and the Coke was Greg's only request so I obliged :)  All in all, this was a great return post, I'm very pleased that I'm caught up on my Wags RRs - that $60 was burning a nervous hole in my pocket!

This is my first time using Walgreens mail in rebates and I'm really glad I found out about them.  They are just like Staples Easy Rebates and Rite Aid Single Check Rebates in that it's a very easy process to submit them online using your receipt number (NO UPCs!).  The great thing about the Walgreens MIRs is that they offer a 10% bonus if you get your rebates back on a Walgreens gift card.  Since it doesn't expire and won't go to waste, I was perfectly happy taking this deal and making an extra $4.80 back on items I was already getting for free or better.

Also a reminder with Register Reward items, this week is the Lysyl Cold Sore Relief, you will only get 1 RR per transactions but the 2 stores I've been to will allow you to do a second transaction in order to get a second RR but make sure you do 2 transactions!  I have forgotten before and it's a nightmare to fix!

Facebook Freebies: Cafe Escapes Hot Chocolate 12pk K-Cups & Nescafe Taster's Choice Sampler

I couldn't be more happier about this Facebook freebie!  Just click the photo above (Cafe Escapes Giveaway page) and fill out the form for a free box of 12 Cafe Escapes K-Cups.  You will likely have to refresh a few times to get the form (I did a dozen or so) but it will come with time.  I also couldn't see the typeface on the page (just the form boxes) without highlighting over the text.  Last trick I had to use, I couldn't see the submit button so I tabbed from the final form box and it hightlighted the submit box for me!  Don't give up, it's worth it as this would cost you a couple of bucks otherwise!  If you don't have a Keurig, you can give them to me because I love them!

Click the photo above (Free Sample! page) to request your free sample of Nescafe Taster's Choice and receive a sample pack of several single-serve varieties!  I'll be passing this along to the coffee drinkers in my life.

Menu Plan Monday: 1/9/12

I've heard a lot of people talking about menu planning and it is so completely practical that it would be silly for me not to try it!  I'm An Organizing Junkie seems to have started it all so that's where I started.  I will learn as I go so bare with me but hopefully my menu planning will help you start doing it yourself!

w Monday: Mom's making my favorite, fettuccine w/ BBQ chicken, so I'm heading over there for dinner but I also tested out my new slow cooker for the first time making Chicken Corn Chowder so that's already made and ready for Greg when he gets home to put with a chicken burger from the freezer.  For the recipe, I doubled it, added chicken and didn't add celery (too expensive for something I won't miss).  I felt as though the ham lost flavor but the chicken came out GREAT so next time I'm only going to include chicken, no ham.  Also, instead of 4 onions I only put in 1 because I didn't think I'd need more than one when I was shopping :oX so I used onion powder with the one I bought.  Now that it's done, I can't imagine having 4 onions in it but one more would've been good.  I had it for lunch and it came out sooo good.  New recipe and first time using a slow cooker - I was pleased!  I think I'll have to use my slow cooker all the time now!
w Tuesday: Mom's birthday so we're all going out to dinner at the Fox & Hound.  Greg and I will be splitting a potato pizza there.  So good and only $11!  I might splurge and get the crab cakes for an appetizer so that I can save enough pizza for Greg (usually not a problem) plus I think my mom likes them so I can share with her.
w Wednesday: Sausage and Potato Pockets - No mushrooms in this house ever and I'm using kielbasa because I got a bunch on sale.
w Thursday: ASL class means I'm home late so leftover corn chowder and/or a frozen pizza or stir fry.
w Friday: TACOS (mmmm)
w Saturday: Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu
w Sunday: Leftovers!

Shopping List:
w Olive Oil (will have to check but I don't think I have any)
w Pizza Dough (I thought I had some when I picked this recipe woops)
w Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
